About Me
As a final-year TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) student at Sultan Idris Education University, I am deeply passionate about nurturing a love for English among my students. My journey into education began with a stint as a tutor, which ignited my enthusiasm for teaching and paved the way for my degree. Throughout my years as a TESL student, I have gained invaluable experience teaching in secondary schools, where I have cultivated a unique approach to education.
I believe that learning English should be an engaging and enriching experience. I am committed to helping my students master essential English language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—by creating a supportive and pressure-free environment. Rather than focusing solely on exam techniques, I encourage my students to explore interesting topics, fostering discussions that not only enhance their language abilities but also polish their critical thinking skills. My teaching philosophy centres on the idea that when students are given the freedom to brainstorm and express their ideas, they develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the language.
In my classroom, English becomes more than just a subject; it becomes a gateway to broader horizons, empowering students to communicate effectively and think critically about the world around them.
Teaching Method(s)
My teaching method strikes a careful balance between teacher-centered and student-centered learning. I believe in guiding my students with structured, informative lessons while simultaneously giving them ample opportunities to engage actively and take ownership of their learning process. This balanced approach ensures that my students benefit from both the clarity and direction of traditional instruction and the freedom and engagement of interactive learning.
In my classroom, the atmosphere leans towards casual and enjoyable learning. I create an environment where students feel comfortable using English, free from the fear of judgment for making mistakes. This supportive setting encourages them to experiment with the language, fostering a positive learning experience. Mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities. Instead of simply pointing them out, I provide constructive feedback in a memorable and encouraging manner, helping students understand and remember how to avoid them in the future.
By combining structured teaching with an open, relaxed environment, I aim to make learning English both effective and enjoyable, helping my students develop confidence and proficiency in their language skills.
