For mathematics subjects, I use Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This approach actively engages students by giving them real-world problems to solve. This allows students to apply mathematical concepts in practical situations, build problem-solving skills, and encourage critical thinking. For example, I would start the class by introducing a real-world problem related to the math topic being taught. Students will then work in small groups to discuss and find solutions to the problem, using geometric and algebraic concepts that have been learned. They will do research, use textbooks and other sources to get the necessary information. Each group will present their solution, complete with mathematical calculations and justification, followed by a class discussion to compare various approaches and strategies. A reflection session will be held to allow students to reflect on the process they have gone through and how they can improve their approach in the future. This method ensures that learning is more interesting and meaningful, improves teamwork and communication skills, and encourages students to be more involved and responsible in their learning.
