My name is Thaanushah Mahadevan, and I have over 6 years of dedicated teaching experience. Currently, I teach English to upper secondary students at a government school, where I focus on helping students master language skills and excel in their academic performance. Prior to this, I spent 3 years teaching primary school students at the Cambridge Language Centre, where I honed my skills in making learning engaging and accessible for younger learners. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for fostering a love of learning and empowering students to achieve their full potential. I strongly believe in the importance of tailoring my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student, whether through personalized learning strategies, interactive lessons or focused support. My goal is not only to improve students’ language proficiency but also to instill confidence, critical thinking and a growth mindset, ensuring they are well-prepared for academic challenges and beyond.
Teaching Method(s)
In my English lessons, I apply a student-centered approach that focuses on creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. I use a variety of teaching methods, including quiz-based learning, group discussions and multimedia resources to cater to the diverse learning styles of my students. I believe in making lessons relatable and fun by incorporating real-life scenarios and current events, which helps students connect with the material. I also emphasize the importance of active learning, encouraging students to participate in discussions and debates to build their confidence in speaking and listening. To support writing skills, I provide constructive feedback and engage students in peer-review sessions, allowing them to develop their ideas critically and collaboratively. Additionally, I integrate technology through online resources, interactive exercises, and educational apps to make learning more dynamic and accessible. Ultimately, my goal is to build students' language proficiency while fostering a love for the English language and enhancing their communication skills for both academic and real-world success.
