About Me
Hi, I’m Shereena. I’m currently finishing my degree in Digital Sustainable Construction Management and doing my internship, but my love for English and Economics has been with me long before university. I’m also an IGCSE graduate, with an A* in English and an A in Economics, and these subjects have always been where I feel most at home.

I teach both English and IGCSE Economics as well as IGCSE Business, and I work with students from all levels, whether they’re just starting to build their basics or preparing for major exams like SPM or IGCSE. Since I’ve been through these exams myself, I understand what students are going through and how to make things feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

My teaching style is relaxed and flexible. I take time to understand how each student learns and what they need from me. Some students need to slow down and revisit the basics. Others want help refining their writing or improving their exam technique. I adapt my lessons to fit each person, and I always try to create a space where they feel comfortable asking questions without feeling judged.

I focus a lot on building confidence. It’s not just about getting the right answer, it’s about helping students feel like they understand what they’re doing and can apply it on their own. Whether we’re going through essay writing, breaking down economic concepts, or preparing for papers, I always try to make it clear, practical and encouraging.

If you’re looking for someone patient, consistent and genuinely passionate about helping students improve, I’d be happy to be part of your learning journey.
Teaching Method(s)
Every lesson I teach is carefully tailored to the student’s syllabus, level, and learning pace. Whether they’re following the SMK curriculum or the IGCSE pathway, I begin by identifying their current understanding through casual questioning, short writing samples, or past paper exercises. From there, I design a clear learning path that strengthens weak areas while building on their existing knowledge.

For English, I focus on building strong core skills first. This includes grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary development, comprehension techniques, and various types of writing — such as summaries, essays, reports, and directed writing. Each lesson has a clear objective, and I guide students step by step with:

- A short review activity to reinforce previously learned material
- A breakdown of a new concept with examples
- Guided practice followed by independent tasks
- Timed practice using actual exam-style questions
- Verbal feedback and tips on how to improve based on exam criteria

I help students develop strong writing habits through structured planning, effective paragraphing (such as using PEEL techniques), and clarity in their arguments and ideas. Students also learn how to interpret questions accurately, manage their time during exams, and edit their own work with confidence.

For IGCSE Economics and Business Studies, my lessons are highly focused on understanding core concepts and applying them in structured answers. I use simplified explanations, diagrams, and real-life examples to help students connect theory to everyday life. Lessons often include:

Clear explanations of key topics from the syllabus

- Visual summaries and keywords to support understanding
- Step-by-step breakdowns of past paper questions
- Sample answers and answer-planning practice
- Techniques to write clear and concise responses for 4, 6, 8, and 10-mark questions

A lot of time is spent showing students how to approach longer written questions with structure and logic. I teach them how to evaluate, compare, and support their points — all while meeting the expectations of Cambridge’s assessment criteria.

Across both subjects, I use repetition, active recall, and question-based learning to reinforce retention. I also give students recap tasks or voice note reminders between lessons to keep them engaged and prepared for what’s next.

What makes my sessions different is the consistent support and flexibility I offer. I don’t just teach content, I help students feel more organised, more motivated, and more confident in their ability to do well.
