About Me
I hold a Diploma and a Bachelor's (Hons) in English Language Studies, followed by the successful completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDT), where I proudly achieved a CGPA of 4.00. Teaching has always been more than just a job to me — it’s a lifelong passion and a powerful way to connect with, inspire, and empower students. I have a strong passion for languages, especially English, which I enjoy teaching—particularly reading, writing, and grammar. However, as Bahasa Melayu is my mother tongue, I am also confident in teaching it. This allows me to teach both English and Malay effectively, depending on the students’ needs. I enjoy using tech in my lessons—Google Classroom, Kahoot!, Quizizz, and Canva are some of my go-to tools for making learning more fun and interactive. I also like creating teaching materials that are engaging and suitable for my students' levels. My aim is to help students grow in their language abilities and confidence. One of the highlights of my teaching experience was seeing my students improve, especially in their essay writing.
Teaching Method(s)
I enjoy incorporating activity-based learning techniques such as role-play, language games, Think-Pair-Share, interactive videos, and digital quizzes like Kahoot! or Quizizz. I also encourage students to create mind maps, story sketches, or use visual aids to help them understand concepts more easily. I use a student-centred learning approach and apply constructivist principles, where students build their own understanding through meaningful activities related to real-life situations. I also make use of open-ended questioning, cooperative learning (group work), and differentiated tasks based on students' ability levels. One of the techniques I use to help students score better is chunking and scaffolding. I break down lessons or tasks into smaller, manageable parts so students don’t feel overwhelmed. For example, if we’re working on essay writing, I’ll first guide them through brainstorming, then planning, then writing one paragraph at a time.
