About Me
Hi! I’m Teacher Uya, a passionate and dedicated TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) student currently pursuing my studies at the University of Science Malaysia (USM) in Pulau Pinang. With an impressive CGPA of 3.70 and a strong academic record, I’ve been consistently honoured on the Dean’s List for three consecutive semesters, a testament to my commitment to excellence in both theory and practice.

Beyond the classroom, I actively contribute to the academic growth of secondary school students as a tutor for the Daya Jaya SPM program, a community-driven initiative in collaboration with BJIM USM. Through this program, I guide Form 5 students in mastering SPM English, blending academic knowledge with real-world strategies to help them succeed in their examinations and beyond.

Driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of education, I aim to not only teach but also inspire my students to develop a lifelong love for learning and confidence in using English. As I continue my journey as an educator-in-training, I strive to empower others, one lesson at a time.
Teaching Method(s)
As a TESOL student with a strong foundation in pedagogy and a minor in multimedia, I adopt a student-centered and differentiated teaching approach. I strive to make my lessons engaging, interactive, and relevant to students’ real-life experiences. I frequently use visual aids, multimedia tools, and simple English to ensure clarity, especially for students with varying levels of language proficiency. I also apply formative assessment techniques such as quick quizzes, group discussions, and feedback sessions to gauge understanding and adjust my teaching accordingly. My goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where every student feels confident and supported.

To help students excel in their exams, I focus on exam-oriented strategies such as time management during writing tasks, answering techniques for comprehension questions, and using the correct format and structure in directed writing. I also teach them how to analyze past-year questions, identify keywords, and apply relevant vocabulary and grammar patterns effectively. I design practice-based lessons, often incorporating model answers, peer marking, and guided writing tasks to strengthen their skills progressively. These techniques not only improve their academic performance but also build their confidence in using English both in and outside the classroom.
