About Me

My name is Iqma. After graduating with a degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2023, I pursued my dream of becoming a teacher by enrolling in a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching at Open University Malaysia. I have completed three semesters, including a teaching practicum, and am now eagerly awaiting my convocation.

I have experience teaching English to Form 1 and Form 2 students, as well as providing private tutoring for Standard 6 students. This diverse teaching background has equipped me with strategies to address different learning needs and levels. In addition to my teaching experience, I bring a background in writing and editing to the table. I have worked as a writer for an English content blog and have freelanced with several publication companies, where I provided proofreading services for both Malay and English novels. This experience has honed my skills in crafting clear, engaging content and has deepened my understanding of language nuances, which I believe will greatly benefit my students in mastering English.

Teaching Method(s)

My teaching approach is centered on Socratic Questioning, where I encourage students to think critically and brainstorm answers before providing guidance. This method not only fosters independence but also promotes higher-level thinking skills, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the material.

To excel in English, students need to develop three essential skills: Reading, Listening, and Writing. I will ensure that students are well-supported in these areas by progressively providing targeted exercises and practical tips. For Reading, we'll focus on comprehension, vocabulary, and various reading strategies. In Listening, we'll engage with diverse audio materials. For Writing, we’ll work on essay structure, grammar, and effective expression. By incorporating these elements into our lessons, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to excel in English.
