About Me

Hello! My name is Teacher Hawa, and I've been teaching secondary math for 3 years. I am currently teaching lower secondary at Abedeen Academy. Embracing mathematics and ensuring student success are the pillars of my teaching philosophy. I earned a Master of Science in Mathematics Education from UiTM and am certified to teach secondary math. I also completed coursework in Cambridge's Lower Secondary Textbook on Proportional Reasoning, A Content Analysis. In short, I'm committed to teaching high school math because I love the subject and want my students to do well. I am excited to continue to inspire and support my students as they navigate the world of mathematics.

Teaching Method(s)

My secondary math teaching method emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of mathematical concepts. The goal is to prepare students for higher education and real-world applications by making maths more engaging and relevant. Inspired by constructivism, I prioritise understanding and applying mathematical concepts over rote memorization. In May 2023, seven of my 22 students passed the Outstanding and High Achievement Checkpoint exams. I'm proud to have increased this number to 15 out of 22 by May 2024 as a result of continuous improvement and dedication to my teaching methods.
