Hello! I’m Teacher Thuwaibah — or you can call me Teacher Sue. I’m a qualified and experienced English teacher with over 20 years of teaching at primary, secondary, pre-university, and university levels. I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), and I’ve been a certified MUET teacher and trainer since 2006. Many of my students have scored Band 4 and above in MUET and have gained confidence in their English speaking skills, especially in presentations. In addition to English, I also teach Bahasa Melayu to international students studying in Malaysia and Malaysian students who were raised overseas and may not have had formal schooling in the language. I understand the challenges they face and focus on making lessons simple and practical, helping them use the language with confidence in daily life. Besides teaching, I have been actively involved in translation and proofreading services for many years, helping both students and professionals produce clear, accurate, and polished communication in both English and Malay.
Teaching Method(s)
My classes are designed to be engaging, interactive, and carefully tailored to suit each student’s individual level, needs, and learning style. I strongly believe that every learner is different, especially when it comes to language acquisition, so I avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I focus on understanding the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and confidence level before planning each lesson. This allows me to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable to try, make mistakes, and gradually improve themselves. I incorporate games, role-play, and simple challenges to make lessons enjoyable and less intimidating, especially for students who are shy or lack confidence in speaking English. For example, I use speaking games such as “This or That,” quick-response activities, and guided conversations to encourage students to speak in full sentences rather than giving one-word answers. I integrate videos and real-world topics into my lessons to make learning more meaningful and relatable. I also emphasise a balance between communication and structure, providing clear guidance on basic grammar and sentence construction. Most importantly, I focus on building confidence, providing positive reinforcement, constructive feedback, and step-by-step guidance to help students see their progress.
