I am an aspiring science teacher with five years of experience instructing students in secondary school from form one to form four. Enthuse involves students studying on all levels and increasing their social interactions by promoting group activities. I applied critical thinking and 21st-century learning in classroom management and instruction to engage students with various teaching and learning techniques, including verbal explanations, written explanations, visual presentations, and e-learning. As a teacher, I applied the 21st learning approach. Following the five elements of this approach has given me a clear direction towards my teaching in the classroom. Most of my class activities involve communication and collaboration using the student-centred method. Much group work was assigned based on students’ preferred group. The learning activities involved students communicating and collaborating. It can also promote and benefit the student by working together on values and ethics. They respect each other more as they learn from each other. If some students needed the teacher’s help, I would attend to them personally and scaffold them towards the learning objectives. The techniques I used most in guiding a successful tutoring session as a tutor are posing questions and active listening. Ask open-ended questions. By posing questions that require more than a yes/no response, encourage the tutee to start thinking based on probing questions. Probing questions follow up on a student’s comprehension towards the topic learned. The next key is to listen to your tutee’s responses. It is also important to continuously gauge on tutee’s level of comprehension.Subject
