I'm a dedicated and experienced tutor for 2 years. I teach mathematics for primary and secondary school students. I can also teach other subjects such as Geography, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are a few techniques I'll be implementing during tutoring;1. Ask questions & listening:
> Ask open ended questions such as "What are the steps working in this problem?" or "What is the definition of this term?". Asking such questions could help me to asses depth of knowledge of my tutee and also helps to asses their performance.
> Ask probing questions such as "What made you think that?". Asking such question provides validity from the tutee on their answer.
> Listening helps me to understand whether tutee really get the concept or still doubtful by observing their body language.
2. Provide summaries for each chapter.
> Once completed each chapters, I will recap on the key points of the chapter before ending the class and before beginning a new chapter. Summaries help students to capture on the important points, formulaes or working techniques.
3. Provide drawings or diagrams.
> I will focus more visualizing elements. For instance in a maths question, I will encourage tutee to extract and visualize information from the question given to understand the concept, and prupose of the question. This technique is applicable for teaching as well. Instead of explaining valves and their function in heart, it is always understandable to draw the heart, valves, and explain the function of the valves.
4. Use positive reinforcement. Usage of reinforcement such as " You are doing better", "Good job", "Nice try", "It looks better than last time" could make tutee feel appreciated and noticed which helps them to be motivated.
