About Me
I am Cikgu Ily, a passionate educator with a strong background in Science education. I graduated from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) with a First-Class Honours Degree in Bachelor of Science Education, majoring in Science and minoring in Biology. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Science Education at UPSI.

Since 2022, I have been actively working as a tutor, teaching both primary and secondary school students. In 2024, I served as a Science and English teacher at Maahad Tahfiz Integrasi Ilmi, a private religious secondary school, where I taught lower and upper secondary students.

My expertise lies in delivering Science and Biology lessons in a clear, engaging, and student-centered manner, tailored to suit students’ learning levels and curriculum needs. I strive to create meaningful learning experiences that help students understand scientific concepts effectively.
Teaching Method(s)
Throughout my teaching journey, I apply a variety of techniques that aim to enhance student understanding, engagement, and mastery of the subject matter. Below are some of the key strategies I implement:

🔹 1. Questioning Technique (Socratic Method)
I begin each lesson with a short questioning session based on the previous topic. This encourages students to recall prior knowledge, activates critical thinking, and sets the context for the new lesson. It also promotes teacher-student interaction and gives me immediate feedback on their level of understanding.

🔹 2. Drill and Practice (Latih Tubi)
To reinforce learning and ensure fluency, I use repetitive exercises and structured grammar practice, especially for English language lessons. This helps students to:

Speak more confidently with accurate pronunciation

Understand the meaning of words and expressions clearly

Improve their overall proficiency in both written and oral skills

I also provide follow-up exercises after each lesson and review them in the following class to monitor student progress.

🔹 3. Inclusive and Student-Centered Approach
I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student, regardless of background or learning ability, feels seen and valued.
I adapt my materials and delivery to cater to different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), and offer extra scaffolding when needed to support struggling learners or students from religious/private school settings.

🔹 4. Integration of Technology
As a 21st-century educator, I make use of digital tools to enhance engagement and make abstract concepts more concrete. Some of the platforms and tools I have used include:

Quizizz, Wordwall, and Kahoot for formative assessments and fun reviews

YouTube videos, interactive simulations, and visual aids for topics in Science and Biology

Google Docs and Slides for collaborative group work and presentations

These tools not only increase student motivation but also promote digital literacy and active learning.

My ultimate goal is to create meaningful learning experiences that empower students to understand, explore, and apply their knowledge in real-life contexts—especially in Science and English.
